Grease Trap Installation

Ecodrop Waste Water Solutions has over 15 years of experience in the installation of commercial grease traps.

Grease traps are necessary for all commercial kitchens and food premises where there is a possibility of generating grease and fat discharges. Grease traps block any and all fats, oils, and grease from entering the drainage system of the establishment and prevents them from causing a blockage in the pipes. The grease trap works by passing slow flowing water through the trap mixing with the grease. The grease then cools into a solid and will float to the top of the receptacle. The solidified grease can then be removed and the water enters the drainage system without any fat or grease contaminants.

Any commercial kitchen or food preparation facililty will require a grease trap. This is true for schools, restuarants, delis, bars, supermarkets, hotels, cafes, and more. Grease traps will need to be installed under sinks and other waste water outflows that may have grease pass though them. Greas traps can even be installed in homes for domestic purposes.

At Ecodrop Waste Water Solutions we supply and fit grease traps from the world's leading manufacturers. Our range of grease traps are suitable for domestic and commercial needs. We can also help design and built a bespoke grease trap to suit your individual requirements.

Grease Trap Installation – FAQs

Why do I need a grease trap?

Grease traps prevent grease and fat from building up in your drainage system. These blockages can cause extensive damage to the system and will have to be removed for the system to function. Building regulations require every commercial kitchen and food premises to have a grease trap installed.

Where should grease traps be located?

While the grease trap should be located as close as possible to the sink or drain that receive the grease and fat discharges it should not be placed in the kitchen. This is to avoid foul odours entering the kitchen every time the trap is opened to remove the grease.

Do I need a grease trap in my home?

Domestic grease traps are not required by law or regulation This is because household kitchens do not produce the same volume as grease as commercial kitchens. However, a grease trap will prevent the build-up of grease in your drainage system and wastewater treatment system which will extend the time needed between cleaning and emptying.
