What size septic tank do I need?

The size of the septic tank will depend on the size of the house. A standard two bed house will usually require a tank capacity of 750l. A 3 bed will need 1,000l, while a 4 bed will or than likely need a 1,250l tank.

Is a plastic septic tank better than a concrete septic tank?

Both plastic and concrete septic tanks have their benefits over the other. A concrete septic tanks are extremely durable and can last for several decades without repairs if properly maintained. Plastic septic tanks are much lighter and easier to install than concrete tanks, and are also watertight and resistant to corrosion.

Do I need planning permission for a septic tank?

If you are replacing your septic tank with a new one in the exact same location then you will not need planning permission. If you want to change the location of the tank or the percolation area that panning permission is required.
